Buffalo, New York in June 2006 is the place to be for a great
conference!
NYSCASA's inaugural biennial conference Preventing Sexual Violence:
Strengthening a Collaborative Response is scheduled for June 26-27,
2006 at the Hyatt Regency Buffalo.  The program starts with some amazing
presenters:
Dr Joy Degruy-Leary on Post-traumatic Slave Syndrome and Sexual
Violence;
Dr. Robert McGrath providing a comprehensive overview of what we need
to know about sex offenders to educate our communities effectively;
Ben Atherton-Zeman performing and talking about engaging men on college campuses; and
Lydia Guy from the Washington Coalition of Sexual Assault
Programs providing a community development model for creating
prevention education programs.

We will also hear an overview of the Centers for Disease Control's new prevention initiatives.

There are a variety of panels and workshops throughout both days for
advocates working with adults and children, law enforcement, educators
in the community and on campuses and service providers seeking to
understand the needs of some of the invisible survivors in our communities.  Go to the NYSCASA website www.nyscasa.org for more details.

A Call to Men will cap the conference with a send-off message to
inspire us as we return home to implement our prevention collaboration efforts.

Talking Leaves Books, an independent bookseller will be at the
conference with many contemporary titles in the field; we will be previewing an educational film from Intermedia; and enjoying a display of survivor
art at our conference reception from The Art of Caring, a program of Vera
House in Syracuse.

There is also plenty to do in the Buffalo area in the evening,
restaurants, theatres and a shuttle from the hotel to Niagara Falls if you are
interested.  Register now at  <http://www.ubevents.org/event/nyscasa06>.
You can also link directly to the hotel to make your reservations from that same site.

Join us for two great days of new knowledge and networking!!!
