IWMF Names Centers of Excellence for Initiative

The IWMF has named "Centers of Excellence" in a new initiative, Reporting on Agriculture and Women: Africa. The initiative, which aims to enhance news media coverage of agriculture, women in agriculture and rural development in Africa, is focused in Mali, Uganda and Zambia. The Centers of Excellence will participate in a program that provides continuous on-site training and specialized attention to the journalists at these media houses:

  • Mali: L'Essor and Radio Klédu
  • Uganda: The Daily Monitor and the Uganda Broadcasting Corporation
  • Zambia: The Post and the Zambian National Broadcasting Corporation

IWMF Board Member Wins Award from NPC

Christiane Amanpour, an IWMF board member and CNN’s chief international correspondent, will receive the Fourth Estate Award from the National Press Club. The award, which is the highest honor for excellence in journalism from the Club, is given annually to an individual who has achieved distinction for a lifetime of contributions to American journalism. HRW Announces Hellman/Hammett Grants

Human Rights Watch offers grants for writers worldwide who have been victims of political persecution and are in financial need.
