The Institute for Research and Education on Women & Gender PDF Print E-mail
   Established in 1997, the University of Buffalo Gender Institute exists to promote scholarly research on women and gender, and to enhance the university curricula. Programming, networking and small grants encourage the development of gender-inclusive interdisciplinary research and teaching.

Affiliation with the Gender Institute is open to faculty, staff, and students interested in focussing on issues, teaching and research on women and the interrogation of gender.   Individuals in the wider Western New York and other institutes of higher learning are welcomed as affiliates as well.

~Distinguished Faculty Lectures
~Gender Week
~Old Girls / New Girls Reception for New Women Faculty 
~Graduate Student Symposia and mentoring events.

Margarita Vargas, of the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures, and Rosemary Dziak of the Department of Oral Biology, School of Dental Medicine, are the current Co-Directors. An Executive Committee and a Steering Committee include broad representation of the university units, and include graduate student representation.
