The Institute for Research and Education on Women and Gender (Gender Institute) was established at the University at Buffalo in the fall of 1997. The mission of the Institute is to promote scholarly gender-related research in the sciences and humanities and to enhance the delivery of curricula that focusses on women and gender. The Gender Institute recognizes such scholarship through events that highlight published works and ongoing studies. The Institute encourages participation in the development of gender-inclusive interdisciplinary research and education through networking, programming, and small grants.
